I was elected Vice President of the Student Council for the 2020-2021 period. As Vice-President, there are many important responsibilities that I must undertake, some of which include initiating outreach and school development projects, representing the student body, assisting with the efficient running of the council, head committees, and taking the lead on meetings and other activities in the absence of the president. I believe that the council works best as a team, having each member play their part to contribute to the entire perspective. As my motto states “Dreams don’t work unless you do”, meaning in order to be successful, we must not just take solace in having an idea, but we must pursue action to reap the benefits. 

Previously, the process of election was as follows; In a general meeting, the student council representatives of each grade would nominate candidates for the position of president. A speech was then presented to the school body by the candidates to formally introduce themselves, as well as the objectives they wished to accomplish once elected.

A week was then allotted for campaigning, after which the school body was allowed to vote for a suitable candidate. Votes were then counted, and the first runner-up was deemed vice-president of the student council. For this period, the student council representatives voted on behalf of their assigned class.
